Answer: How might an online or blended classroom teacher use Fair Use when gathering resources for educational purposes? What observations have you made about Fair Use and the TEACH Act and how has it changed your approach to finding reliable content for your students?
When gathering resources for educational purposes, teachers are able to use portions of copyrighted works under Fair Use. In learning about Fair Use and the TEACH Act, I’ve observed that teachers are able to use portions of work so long as they attribute the work to its creator, the use is for educational purposes, and the teacher is not making money off of the work. I think it’s important to error on the side of caution when in doubt. I’ve also learned how to search for creative commons when looking for digital content on the web.
